COURT SCHEDULES
The court schedules describes what activities the courts are used for and when. The are versions covering the the spring, summer, autumn and winter seasons.
When the schedule does not apply
Club matches in the Dorking and Leatherhead Tennis League
Full details of all the dates when the courts are reserved solely for match play and for which the schedule therefore does NOT apply can be found here.
What you should know about the schedule
Times are shown on the schedule for the activities described below. However, as with the unreserved times, members are free to use the courts at any time, if they are not being otherwise used.
- Adult Club sessions
- These sessions are open to all members aged 18 and over. Younger members who are keen to play are encouraged to come and play to see if they are good enough (see rules) to play regularly in the Adult sessions. Everybody just mixes in, generally playing doubles till one pair gets to 4 games. At this point, anybody waiting plays. In this way there is little waiting around for a game. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of the floodlights, if they are used.
- Ladies Club sessions
- These are for lady members only, aged 18 and over, and run in the same way as the Adult Club sessions. As with the Adult sessions, younger members may also play if they are sufficiently able.
- Teenage Club sessions
- These sessions are for teenage members and those who are perhaps not yet teenagers, but have the ability to play as well as the teenagers. The way the sessions are run is left to the discretion of the players themselves but the model is the Adult Club sessions.
- Family sessions (Sunday afternoons)
- This is a time reserved at the weekend on the schedule to ensure that families who are members have an opportunity to play together. There is no formal organisation or rules dictating the play, which can be singles or doubles. However, as at all times, members are asked to be considerate towards other families wishing to use the courts.
- Coaching
- Both courts are reserved (unless otherwise indicated) during these times for BTC coaching (see coaching).
- Matches
- There are certain times during the spring that are reserved for the Mens, Ladies and Mixed teams (see Dorking & Leatherhead League).
- Open to the Public
- These periods are a time when anyone can use the courts by paying the £5 per court per hour fee. Tickets are available from All Sortz at 7 Grove Corner. Members can use the courts during these periods for free but must vacate the court if approached by a member of the public who has purchased a ticket for use of a court and has a receipt. Members can obtain priority by paying for a court at All Sortz.
Note: Potential users of the courts should be aware that during term times, one court may be booked on occasions on Wednesdays by the Club coach (using the same system described above of reserving a court at All Sortz.)
- Unreserved times
- When no activity is scheduled, members play on a first come basis. They may also introduce visitors during these times for a fee of £2 (see rules and Constitution).
